Abstract

662,476. Meter brake magnets. MEASUREMENT, Ltd., and WOLFENDEN, R. H. April 3, 1950 [May 11, 1949], No. 12535/49. Class 35. A meter brake magnet comprises a small mass, high energy permanent magnet c used in conjunction with a low reluctance yoke d and the magnet pole-face is fitted with an external pole-face c having a similar outline to that of the pole for the purpose of diverting leakage flux from the rotor gap to the area below the poleface. The magnet may be of bar form as shown, or it may be a double pole magnet of conventional U-shape in which case the poleshoe is divided. In this case it may be enclosed in a moulded jacket and the pole-shoes, whose edges are turned down have pressed out tongues fitting over the end of the magnet.
