Abstract
650,861. Permanent magnets. BLEARS, J., and METROPOLITAN - VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Oct. 1, 1948, No. 25643. [Class 35] [Also in Group XL (a)] The focusing flux between the poles 2, 2<SP>1</SP> of a mass spectrometer apparatus is varied by a rotating cylindrical magnet 6 inserted in the magnetic circuit 4. The magnet may be operated by a motor or by a handle 8 and has a pointer 9 moving over a scale 10.
