Abstract

763,695. Electric indicators. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Jan. 10, 1955, No. 747/55. Class 40 (1). [Also in Groups XXXV, XXXVI and XXXVII] A device for detecting reverse current in a rectifier anode conductor 1 comprises a pair of permanent bar magnets 5 embedded in a copper block 11 and having soft iron pole shoes 7, and shielded by a pair of soft iron pole shoes 3, there being also a soft iron yoke 8 and a pivoted armature 9 biased by a spring 10. Normally, the field 2 of the conductor 1 induces N and S poles in the pole shoes 3 as shown, and the armature is held against the S<SP>1</SP> pole of the permanent magnet system, a reverse current in the conductor causing reversal of the polarity of the pole shoes 3 whereby the armature 9 moves into the chain-dotted line position. Resetting is by hand or by a separate electromagnet. The armature may operate contacts.
