819,043. Electric selective signalling systems. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Oct. 1, 1956 [Sept. 30, 1955], No. 29895/56. Class 40 (1). In apparatus for counting the revolutions of a rotating part 2, Fig. 1, a magnet 1 rotates with the part and periodically actuates a fixedly mounted magnetic switch 3 to bring about the application of counting impulses to a magnetic system 4 including an armature 4b which rotates at the application of impulses to drive a counting mechanism 6. A pair of magnets 1, Fig. 2, may be secured to the rotating part, such as a shaft, by a band 1a. In Fig. 3 counting may take place in either direction. Contacts r, l are normally closed. When the shaft W rotates in a counterclockwise direction the S pole of a permanent magnet DM pulls down the armature of the switch MS to energize relay L to actuate a counter. Contact l opens so that as the N pole of the magnet passes the switch relay R remains inactive. For rotations in a clockwise direction only the counter associated with relay R is operated.
