Abstract

744,700. Electric bells. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. May 12, 1954 [Aug. 12, 1953], No. 22179/53. Class 13 A telephone bell or the like comprises a wound two - pole stator and an unwound twopole rotor carrying a hammer, the rotor being pivoted centrally between the pole pieces of the stator so as to be capable of limited rotation in order to bring tne hammer into contact with a gong or gongs. As shown, the stator coil 22 is wound on one limb of a plane U-shaped core 10 to which is secured a bracket 38 carrying a gong 39. The rotor 27 is mounted on bearing plates held between the limbs of the core 10 and carries a hammer 30. For use with alternating current the bell has a permanent magnet in the rotor and either one or two gongs, whereas for direct current the rotor contains a soft iron yoke and is arranged to operate an interrupter contact, Fig. 5 (not shown), there being only one gong in this case.
