The induction coil and the bell both make use of the same winding 8 and core 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, 11 ; the bell also comprises one or more permanent magnets 4 and an armature 7, 14 carrying a hammer 15. In modifications, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the armature is cylindrical with one or more permanent bar magnets secured to it at right angles to its axis.
