[Class 40 (iv)] An alternating current buzzer for use in a telephone subset comprises an induction coil of a type normally used in subsets and having one or more air-gaps in its magnetic circuit, on which is detachably mounted a vibrating armature. The armature preferably comprises a plate of soft-iron or the like mounted on a leaf-spring arranged parallel to one of the surfaces of the magnet yoke and opposite an air gap. The induction coil when thus adapted serves both as an induction coil and as a receiver of calling current, so that the normal bell is not required.
