Loud-speakers ; magnetic instruments.-The permanent magnet 1 of a loud-speaker is provided with a magnetic shunt or keeper 2 made of laminated soft iron or the like and arranged in parallel with the poles 9. The diaphragm or like member is connected by a rod 5 with the pivoted armature 3. Current from a wireless receiver or the like is applied to a fixed coil 10 wound either round the shunt 2, Fig. 2, or round the armature, Fig. 1 (not shown). In addition two further coils 4, 11 surrounding the armature 3 and shunt 4 respectively, are connected in series to form a closed circuit. The wires forming adjacent coils as at 10, 11 are twisted together or otherwise intimately related to one another.
