Magnetic instruments.-The magnet in a telephone receiver is formed of two similar arcuate stampings 1, each extending over more than a semicircle and 'bent in its length to the extent of its thickness so that one end of each may overlap the end of the other, as shown in Fig. 3. The holes 4 in each stamping register and screws are passed through the holes to secure the stampings together. The screws may be insulated from one another and form the terminals of the windings. Each stamping may have a portion 3 turned up to form a pole-piece or the stampings may be formed with openings to receive laminated pole-pieces.
