Abstract

258,000. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., Young, A. P., and Hutt, J. June 10, 1925. Addition to 236,680. Magnets.-Relates to electromagnetic instruments of the kind described in the parent Specification in which each pole-piece 11 is shaped to fit closely around an end of the permanent magnet 13 and is then pressed so as to malie a firm connection therewith and consists in making each pole-piece extend over the sides of the magnet so that the pole-pieces are prevented from moving laterally with respect to the magnet. Each pole-piece 11 may be provided with one or more integral lugs 18, Fig. 2, by which the magnet assembly may be screwed or riveted to the casing 19. The pole-pieces may also be formed with integral upper lugs 21 to which a terminal board 22 of insulating material may be secured. Fig. 5 shows a modified construction in which the magnet assembly is secured by a bent strip 25 passing over the magnet at 26 and riveted to the casing at 27. One end of strip 25 is bent up at 28 to anchor the terminal board 22 whilst the other end of the strip is arranged to anchor the flex leads as shown at 29.
