Oct. 16, 1934. R. GILMOUR TRANSMISSION OF ELECTRICAL IMPULSES BY RADIO Filed Jan. 28. 1932 gwocntoc fiberfl mn W Patented Get. 16, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE TRANSMISSION OF ELECTRICAL IMPULSES BY RADIO This invention relates to the transmission of electrical impulses by radio as in wireless telephony and telegraphy.
One important object of the invention is to provide novel means for eliminating the necessity of using an antenna to receivesuchsignals.
A second important object of the invention is to provide improved means whereby all antenna troubles are eliminated.
A third important object of the invention is to provide novel means whereby the use of connecting wires for an antenna, of either the outdoor or indoor type, is eliminated thus making it possible to move a receiver from place to place without moving an antenna or extending connections thereto.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawing like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:-
Figure 1 is a wiring diagram showing the connections for utilizing the invention;
Figure 2 is a face view of the antenna eliminator used herein:
Figure 3 is an edge view thereof;
Figure 4 is an enlarged partial section on the line 4-4 of Figure 2.
left in the set but are not used when the device C is employed.
By means of this arrangement the device 0 eliminates the necessity of using any antenna and the device may be housed within the cabinet of the set so as to be out of the way when moving the set from place to place.
It will be noted that only those parts of a receiving set having direct connection with the device C are shown, the remaining parts of the set being of any preferred character and arrangement.
There has thus been provided a simple and efficient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the principles involved. It is therefore desired that the present disclosure shall cover all forms and variations which properly come within the scope claimed.
I claim:-
1. In a radio receiving set, aniwer transtom having an external connection terminal, a first stagemradio freguencyaamplificationincludingfiilm a radio tube, an antenna eliminating condenser having a pair of terminals, a conductor connecting the said transformer terminal to one of the said condenser terminals, a second conductor connecting the second terminal of the said condenser with the current input terminal of said tube, an antenna condenser, and a third conductor connecting the first terminal of the first menform of a condenser C which consists preferably ;tioned condenser with the antenna condenser.
of eight mica washers 10 about the size and shape shown, the inner faces of seven of these washers being lined with gold leaf 11, so that alternate layers of mica and gold leaf are formed. Clips 12 hold these washers together and the alternate layers of gold leaf are connected respectively to terminals 13.
The device 0 has one terminal connected by a. conductor 14 to the external terminal of a power transformer 15. The same terminal is also connected by a conductor 16 to one terminal of the usual antenna condenser 1'7. The remaining terminal 13 is connected by a conductor 18 to one terminal of a trimmer condenser 19 which is connected by its other terminal to the usual capacity condenser (not shown). From the connection of the conductor 18 and condenser 19 leads a conductor 20 which is connected to the tube 21 for the first radio frequency amplification stage as shown. The usual antenna connections may be 2 2. In a radio receiving set. a power transformer '5 having an external connection terminal, a first stage of radio frequency amplification including a radio tube, an antenna eliminating condenser having a pair of terminals, a conductor connecting the said transformer terminal to one of the said condenser terminals, a second conductor connecting the second terminal of the said condenser with the current input terminal of said tube. a trimmer condenser having one terminal connected to the second conductor, an antennacondenser, and a third conductor connecting the first tfinln'al of the first mentioned condenser with the antenna condenser.
