[Class 40 (iv)] In a moving- coil loud-speaker, the field magnet is formed by sections 1, 2, 3 mounted on a supporting member 5 to provide symmetrically disposed gaps 7, 9 in which are located a speech coil 6 and a fixed hum-neutralizing coil 8 respectively to reduce the hum due to ripples in the current supplied to the field winding 4 mounted on the central section 3 of the core. The gap 9 may be filled with non-magnetic material in which the neutralizing coil 8 is embedded.
