[Class 40 (iv).] An electroacoustic device, such as a loudspeaker, comprises a metallic cylinder 8 of copper or aluminium secured to the base of a frustoconical diaphragm 7 and located in the gap formed between the poles 2, 3 of an electromagnet 1, the fixed coil 6 which receives the speech currents being wound on the end of the core 2. This core is preferably provided with radial slots or constituted by juxtaposed iron sheets and the magnetic air gap may be reduced by forming the coil 6 of magnetic wire, such as iron, nickel or alloys. If desired, a non-radial field may be employed, the movable member 8 being constituted by a flat metallic ring. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 18765/13, 131,041, 217,056, 246,556, 253,159, 295,342 and 308,318, [all in Class 40 (iv), Telephones &c.].
