Abstract
461,234. Microphones. ELECTRICAL RESEARCH PRODUCTS, Inc. Oct. 9, 1936, No. 27437. Convention date, July 30. [Class 40 (iv)] A velocity-type microphone and a pressuretype microphone are associated with a single amplifier, preferably in a single structure. In the apparatus shown, the velocity-type microphone 10 comprises a conductive ribbon diaphragm 34 supported between polepieces 31 fixed to the limbs of a U-shaped magnet 30, whilst the pressure-type microphone 11 is of condenser-type and is mounted on the cross-bar 36 of an H-shaped support 37 fixed to the magnet. The microphones are mounted in an apertured extension 44 of a casing 43 containing an amplifier 24, Fig. 2, transformer 13, resistances 19, 26, condenser 23, and switches 16, 21.. The microphones 10, 11 are connected respectively to the primary and secondary windings of the transformer 13 as shown, and the switches enable either to be used separately by shortcircuiting the secondary winding of the transformer or removing the polarizing voltage from the condenser microphone.
