Abstract

Loud-speakers; magnetic receivers.-In a loud-speaking telephone, the armature g of the electromagnetic system is mounted on a vibrating bridge e supported at its ends and connected at or near its middle portion to a sound box i. Fig. 2 shows the mounting of the bridge e on the plate d, which carries the electromagnetic system cooperating with the armature g. The armature may be laminated. Springs p ensure freedom of vibration. The magnetic system, Fig. 3, comprises a ring-shaped magnet a having inwardly directed radial poles b arranged at right angles to the bridge member e. The sound box may be of the violin type with a bridge j, and may be connected to the rest of the apparatus by adjustable clamping members k. Or an ordinary violin may be used as the sound box, and supported above the rest of the instrument on adjustable sockets.
