Abstract
241,343. Brown, S. G. Aug. 28, 1924. Loud-speakers ; diaphragms.-Relates to loudspeakers of the kind having a pair of diaphragms vibrated in opposite directions, and consists mainly in attaching to each diaphragm a reed for working the same, the said reeds vibrating with the diaphragms in opposite directions. As shown in Fig. 1, two corrugated diaphragms a, a' arranged face to face are secured at their centres to a pair of parallel reeds b, b<1> worked by coils e, e<1> on the pole-pieces of permanent magnets d, d<1>. The magnets are secured to a base plate c by bridges f, f<1> and pillars h, h<1>, and are adjusted by means of screws i, i'. The diaphragms are held by clamping plates m, m<1> ; and the space between the diaphragms has an outlet k into a socket n for a trumpet. The reeds may be formed in one like a tuning fork. The exciting coils mav be disposed between the reeds instead of outside them. A single magnet may be used instead of two.
