Abstract

639,134. Sound transmitters and receivers. ELECTRICAL & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 28, 1947, No. 8395. [Class 40 (iv)] In a ribbon type microphone or loudspeaker, the ribbon 12 is mounted in a frame 4 which forms part of the magnetic system and comprises a pair of slotted rectangular plates 5, 6, Fig. 4, with layers of paper 8, 9 cemented to their inner faces, the layer 8 extending sufficiently into the rectangular slot 7 to allow the ribbon to be cemented thereto. Connection to the ribbon may be made either by soldering or by clamping a connection member in contact with the ribbon between the transverse sides of the rectangular plates 5, 6. The frame may be mounted in slots in the magnet pole pieces or may be screwed directly on to the limbs of the permanent magnet.
