Abstract

565,367. Loud-speakers and microphones. ALLAN, W. H. May 4, 1943, No. 0996/42. [Class 40 (iv)] An open diaphragm-type moving-coil loudspeaker or microphone comprises a substantially rigid diaphragm 1 mounted centrally by means of a fiexible disc 2 secured to a central support, and carrying at or near the periphery a speech coil 9 operating in the field between annular polepieces. The field may be produced by a permanent magnet 8 or energizing winding 7. The diaphragm may be conical as shown, plane, or exponential, and of circular or non-circular periphery. Specifications 229,759 and 271,604, [both in Class 40 (iv)], are referred to.
