Abstract
447,846. Loud-speakers. LEE, F. H., 30, Chevin Road, Derby. Feb. 5, 1935, No. 3676. [Class 40 (iv)] With the object of preventing chattering of the cone 10 of a moving-coil loud-speaker, a series of spaced strands 13 of soft iron or like magnetizable material is arranged in the form of an annulus in the interior of the speech coil 12 but insulated therefrom, the longitudinal axes of the strands being parallel to the main pole 16 and their mid-points normally lying substantially in the plane of the end of the main magnet. The holder for the speech coil 12 is built up of two end flanges or annuli 11 with intervening insulation 15 so as to form an annular channel-shaped member, and a soft iron or like ring 14 is embedded in the front flange 11 of the holder. The strands 13 may be located either in the insulation 15 or between the thicknesses of paper &c. forming the cone 10, being held in position in the latter case by the shellac or equivalent material used for securing together the layers of paper.
