Abstract

426,846. Loud-speakers. ROLA CO., Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. May 3, 1934, No. 13430. Convention date, Feb. 28. [Class 40 (iv)] A loud-speaker in which the moving coil 14 and diaphragm 16 are centred in the magnetic air gap by.an external spider 17, has the air gap shielded against the entry of foreign particles by a layer 28 of soft fibrous material, such as felt, which is clamped between a fibrous washer 20 on the outer magnet pole 12 and one of the channel-shaped members 21, 22 between which the outer edge of the spider 17 is clamped. The felt layer 28 is pervious to the passage of air so as to avoid substantial damping of the diaphragm movement. The inner end of the diaphragm is closed by a cap 30 and the coil form 15 is provided with openings 31.
