Abstract

521,811. Loud-speakers. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. Nov. 25, 1938, No. 34334. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1937. [Class 40 (iv)] In a moving-coil loud-speaker, the coil former 2 is centred by an annular spider 8 which is of concave-convex cross-sectional shape along radial lines. The spider 8 which has circular concentric corrugations 11 has triangular projections at its outer edge and is serrated at its inner edge where it is glued or cemented to the former 2. The spider is shaped so that under the influence of atmospheric conditions which cause the diaphragm 6 to expand and to displace the coil axially in the gap, the spider expands and effects a compensating displacement of the coil in the opposite direction.
