Abstract

494,726. Diaphragms. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., MOIR, J., and PATERSON, D. R. April 28, 1937, No. 12149. [Class 40 (iv)] An acoustic diaphragm comprises a central dish-shaped or frusto-conical portion 2 merging at its outer periphery into the inner edge of an annular surround 1, the central part of the dish-shaped portion being domed in the reverse direction to the virtual apex of the portion 2, and the annular surround being provided with concentric corrugations 4 and having plane portions left outside the outermost corrugation and between the innermost corrugation and the junction of the annular surround with the central portion. When the diaphragm forms part of a moving-coil loudspeaker, the coil former is attached at the junction of the annular surround with the central portion 2. The annular surround 1 is preferably integral with the portion 2.
