Abstract

885,501. Loud-speaker diaphragms. HASSAN, J. A. April 9, 1958 [May 9, 1957], No. 11306/58. Class 40 (4). The rim of a one-piece loud-speaker diaphragm, Fig. 3, is formed with a ridge 48 and a trough 50, the ridge having an initial slope 58 which is less than the slope 60 of the conical portion of the diaphragm. As shown, the diaphragm rim is terminated by an integral flange 52 which is secured by adhesive 54 to an annular supporting face 30 of a loud-speaker frame 20. In a modification, Fig. 4, the diaphragm rim is formed with two ridges 74, 78 and two troughs 76, 80 and the annular flange 82 is of channel form so as to accommodate a fabric core 84, the adhesive in this case being applied to the flange, core and the supporting face. In both embodiments, the loud-speaker flange serves as an acoustic sealing gasket if the loud-speaker is directly fastened to a suitable mounting board.
