Abstract

440,041. Loud-speakers. GLEN, R. R., Villa Bergeronnettes, Anglet, Basses-PyrÚnÚes, France. June 19, 1934, No. 18184. [Class 40 (iv)] A loud-speaker comprises a cone 13 driven by a moving coil 11 and a larger cone 18 arranged closely adjacent to the cone 13 and adapted to be driven solely by the vibration and/or compression of the air in the narrow space between the two cones, this space being freely open to the surrounding air. The cone 18, which preferably has a diameter of about three times that of cone 13, is mounted on a ring 19 carried by a spider 20 having a ring 21 engaging the magnet 10 whilst the cone 13 is mounted on a ring 15 connected by arms 16 to a ring 7 also secured to the magnet.
