Abstract

359,092. Diaphragms. LUCAS, O. D., 49, Linden Gardens, Notting Hill Gate, London. Aug. 6, 1930, No. 23535. [Class 40 (iv).] The conical diaphragm of a loud-speaker is supported at each end by a set of springs, the sets having different natural periods of vibration. As shown, the cone 1 of a moving-coil loud-speaker has its periphery secured to a flexible annulus 4 which is mounted on U -shaped springs 2 secured to the front ring of a spider 3. The rear end of the cone is supported by springs 5 which are provided with terminals and serve to conduct the current to the moving coil 6 which is preferably centretapped and operated in the manner described in Specification 342,070. If desired, the springs 5 may be attached to threads of silk or other flexible connections which are secured to the cone. The springs of both sets taper in width from end to end, the narrower ends being connected to the cone.
