Abstract

309,226. Round, H. J. Jan. 7, 1928. Diaphragms.-A conical or similarly shaped diaphragm is supported by means of one or more spiders having substantially spiral arms or slots. As shown the diaphragm 1 is supported upon a central rod 3 by spiders 4, 5, the spider 4, Fig. 3, having spirally arranged arms. 7 and slots 6 while the spider 5 may comprise radial arms or as shown in Fig. 4, spiral arms 9. The rod 3 may be supported on the pole piece of the magnet system. In a modification the diaphragm may be supported by spiders arranged externally of the diaphragm and, if desired, the spiral arms only may be retained, the hub and rim of the spiders being omitted. The spiders may be made of sheet metal or paper.
