Abstract

1,116,673. Magnetic switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 Jan., 1967 [27 Jan., 1966], No. 3793/66. Heading H1N. [Also in Division G1] Two magnetic contact units RS1, RS2 are operated in sequence and then restored to their normal condition in the same sequence as a permanent magnet M or a movable screen (not shown) between the units and a fixed permanent magnet passes the contact units. The contact units are connected to the windings Cl, C2 of a stepping motor SM having a permanent magnet rotor RM which is turned through 90 degrees each time a set of contacts RS1, or RS2 is changed over; the direction of rotation depending upon the order of contact operation. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the contact units have normally open contacts connected to respective relays which have change-over contacts connected to the stepping motor coils. Alternatively, the contact units may each control an individual transistor bi-stable circuit. A number of movable magnets or gaps in a magnetic screen may pass the contact units and be movable in a straight line or on a rotary member.
