Abstract
1422049 Bi-stable switches W H KURPANEK 1 Oct 1973 45788/73 Heading H1N A polarized bi-stable relay has two permanent magnets 1 within a housing 7 with opposite poles aligned on opposite sides of a sealed contact unit 2 with an electrically conductive armature bridging contact which is movable within the unit 2 under the influence of a coil 5 which may be pulsed to produce a magnetic field normal to that between the permanent magnet poles; the position taken up by the armature 3 being that which the polarity at its ends, due to the pulsing of the coil, relates to the permanent magnet poles. The magnets 1 form a closed ring flux path and coil energization cannot have a demagnetizing effect.
