Abstract

1,126,070. Bi-stable relays; magnetic switches. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 13 May, 1966 [20 May, 1965], No. 21293/66. Heading H1N. A magnetic contact unit 9 is surrounded and controlled by a movable axially magnetized annular permanent magnet 8 which is moved between like poles 4, 5 of an electromagnet 3, 2, 6 having its other poles 7 on each side of the permanent magnet 8 (Fig. 2, not shown). The magnitude of the reverse current pulse which will move the permanent magnet to its other stable position is set by the thickness of non-magnetic spacing sheets 10, 11, on the poles 4, 5. The sealed contact unit 9 has an armature contact ball which bridges fixed contacts at each end of the sealed tube.
