Abstract

1365104 Magnetic switches DANFOSS AS 24 Aug 1971 [31 Aug 1970] 39651/71 Heading H1N A bi-stable electric switch 1 includes a permanent bar magnet 16 pivoted at 17 with polepieces 19, 23 adjacent its ends, each stable position being when an end of the magnet 16 is adjacent its corresponding polepiece 19, 23, and an armature 13 carrying a moving contact 14, there being an air gap 26 between polepiece 19 and armature 13 so that with zero air gap as shown contacts 14, 10 are closed and as magnet 16 pivots anti-clockwise (under the action of a second permanent magnet 2 attached to a float) the force between polepiece 19 and armature 13 first decreases and then becomes repulsive, opening the contacts. Also assisting in opening the contacts is spring 12 carrying armature 13, spring 12 being biased to the contacts open position and the fact that as magnet 16 pivots anticlockwise its end strikes spring 12.
