Abstract

1,058,142. Electromagnetic relays. ALLEN WEST & CO. Ltd. Jan. 12, 1965 [Feb. 4, 1964], No. 4649/64. Heading H2B. A sealed magnetic contact unit operated by an energizing coil -or a permanent magnet comprises two contacts 13, 14 projecting into the envelope 10 and a flexible cantilever armature 15 which is magnetically movable to displace a pool of conductive liquid (shown shaded) to bridge the fixed contacts 13, 14. A channel in the underside of the armature 15 ensures that the conductive liquid link between the fixed contacts is not broken when the armature engages the envelope. Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) show a slightly different shaped envelope. The units may be normally open or normally closed and may be of the plug-in type.
