Abstract
1,139,206. Polarized electromagnetic relays. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 20 May, 1966 [26 May, 1965], No. 22570/66. Heading H1N. A cylindrical armature contact 8 of a polarized relay is supported between springs 6, 7 which have their other ends sealed into the ends of a two part envelope 1 secured on opposite sides of an annular, radially magnetized, permanent magnet 11. The armature contact 8 co-operates with alternative fixed contacts 2, 3 and may be centre-stable or biased into engagement with one of the fixed contacts 2 or 3. The relay has two operating coils 15 which may be energized singly or together. Springs 6, 7 may be replaced by a single spring (10) having the armature contact secured to its centre. A magnetic casing 21 acts as a flux return path and magnetic shield. The armature may be magnetically soft or hard and magnetically reversed on energization of the coils.
