Abstract
A polarized bi-stable electromagnetic relay has two magnetic contact units 120 disposed at opposite ends of a permanent magnet 121 which is part of two magnetic circuits arranged so that pulse energization of an operating 129 winding changes the amount of flux passing though the contact units by dispersion of flux from one magnetic circuit to the other. The contact units may be any of the types described in Specifications 1,026,564, 1,026,565, 1,026,567, 1,063,145, 1,094,334, 1,098,145, 1,099,081, 1,115,401, 1,119,126, 1,126,869, 1,131,928, 1,142,086, 1,213,699, 1,219,556 and 1,250,930. The first flux path extends from the permanent magnet 121 to an inner magnetic member 2 of one contact unit through its lamina armature or armatures to its outer magnetic member through a magnetic cover 133 then through the other contact unit to the second inner member to the other pole of the permanent magnet. The second flux path extends from the permanent magnet 121 to an inner member 2 across an annular gap set by an insulator 125 then along a magnetic tube 126 on which the coil 129 is wound, about an insulator 127, and across a second insulator 125 to the other inner member 2 adjacent the other magnet pole. The members 2 are separated from the permanent magnet 121 by insulating washers 122.
