Abstract
853,607. Electromagnetic relays. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. April 16, 1959 [May 6, 1958], No. 12995/59. Class 38 (5). A relay with contact devices comprising magnetic contact-springs in sealed tubes has two layers of such devices surrounded by an operating coil and a flux return member for each layer. As shown, the coil 2 is wound on a spool formed of two parts 3 held together by the coil 2. The ends of the contact-springs engage in carriers 5 which fit on projections 6 on extensions 4 of the parts 3. Flux return members 7 have their ends between the extensions 4 and insulated from the contact-springs by plates 8. Clamping-springs 9 pass round and hold together the members 5, 7, 8 and the contact-spring ends (Fig. 6), the extensions 4 being grooved at 16 for insertion of the springs 9. Conducting strips pass inside the spool so that all connections to the contacts can be made at one end of the relay. A polarizing permanent magnet 12 may be mounted between the layers of contact devices and may be slotted and sprung to fit in grooves 13 in the spool parts 3. The flux return members may be common to two or more relays (Fig. 7, not shown) and the contacts may be " normally open " or " change-over " contacts.
