Abstract
491,893. Light current relays. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and HELLIER, W. H. M. March 12, 1937, No. 7339. [Class 38 (v)] In a telegraphic relay of the kind in which two polepieces are supported from a magnetic framework which also pivotally supports at the end remote from the polepieces a magnetized armature which extends from the lastmentioned end of the framework through a coil to the polepieces, these polepieces are adjustably supported in pillars extending between a magnet and a magnetic yoke piece which is in a plane parallel to the magnet and formed as separate pieces fixedly attached to the magnet and yoke piece. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the yoke piece consists of two L-shaped magnetic bars 4 attached at one end to a magnetic pillar 7 mounted on the base 10 and bearing against the U-shaped permanent magnet 11 and at their other ends are screwed to pillars 13 secured to the free poles of the magnet 11. Passing laterally through the pillars 13 are adjustable polepieces 22 between which extends an armature 1 one end of which is clamped to the pillar 7 and the other end of which carries contacts movable between relatively fixed adjustable contact screws 18 mounted in pillars 17. The polepieces and contact screws may be held in their adjusted positions by clamping screws drawing together the slit ends of the pillars.
