Abstract
744,719. Electromagnetic relays. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Nov. 12, 1953 [Jan. 19, 1953]], No. 31417/53. Class 38(5) In a polarized relay, the co-operating surfaces of an armature such as 7b and a pole face such as 4a make an acute angle with the axis of rotation a of the armature so that the travel of the armature is considerably greater, say two and a half times as great, as the air gap. In the form shown the actuating coil 1 has two pole faces 3a, 4a each arranged between two armature faces 7a, 7c or 7b. 7d, carried by a permanent magnet 7 pivoted by trunnions 5. The arrangement may be such that the poles 7a and 7b are north and 7c and 7d south and the armature structure is thus actuated one way or other according to the direction of current in the coil 1. A rod 8 carried by the structure operates the contacts (not shown). Specification 118,984 [Class 38(v)] is referred to.
