Abstract

A polarized relay has its core end sealed into a plate forming part of a sealed contact unit with the core end acting as a fixed contact co-operating with an armature extending parallel to the plate. As shown, the contact unit 7 is mounted on the plate 34 through which the core 11 extends. The plate is insulated by a plastics coated member 35 and is located relative to a permanent magnet 8 and coil former 13 by a non-magnetic frame 16 which has a lug 32 extending into a hole in a yoke 9 and bent over (Fig. 4, not shown) to retain the yoke 9 against the lower pole of the permanent magnet 8 with its hooked end 31 engaged in the coil former 13. A U-shaped magnetic screen 12 acts as a flux guide and shunt for the permanent magnet. An insulating foil 19 and flux transfer plate 17 are mounted above the yoke 9 and a terminal snap ring 38 retains the parts on the core 11. Two contact units with respective cores may be associated with a common coil, permanent magnet and yoke (Fig. 3, not shown).
