Abstract

1,013,789. Electromagnetic relays. AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC LABORATORIES Inc. Sept. 13, 1962 [April 30, 1962], No. 34936/62. Heading H2B. A relay coil former 10, 11, 12 surrounds a magnetic core 23 and has flanges 11, 12 with outer faces adjacent flux concentrators 25, 29 which are secured by screws 34, 36 to the core 23 and which extend over the ends of the sealed magnetic reed contact devices 15 ... 18. Terminal ends 22 of the contact reeds extend through apertures 20 in an extention 13 of the flange 11 and terminal ends 21 extend through apertures 19 in an insulating member 24 secured between the flux concentrator 25 and flange 12. Two or more coils may be wound on the former and one coil may be short-circuited to delay contact operation. A high-carbon steel core may be provided to retain the contacts in the operated position until release by a reverse pulse.
