Abstract
1,265,887. Electromagnetic sealed contact relays. C. P. CLARE & CO. 27 June, 1969 [9 July, 1968], No. 32676/69. Heading H1N. The sealed magnetic reed contact unit of an electromagnetic relay has an elongated insulating envelope 18 shaped in cross-section (Fig. 3) to extend in one direction for a greater distance than in a second direction normal thereto, and the contact unit is mounted between walls 30, 32 of a bobbin 14 so that the coil 16 on the bobbin is adjacent the housing between the walls. This provides close magnetic coupling for the contacts 20A and the coil and minimum relay dimensions in the direction of the minor axis of the elliptical cross-section of the envelope 18. The walls 30, 32 are rounded to receive the coil and recessed to accommodate the contact unit between them. Grooves 34 in the end cheeks 22, 24 of the bobbin 14 receive bent terminal members (36) which are secured to the coil ends. The relay may be mounted on a pivoted-circuit board (not shown) with longer edges of cheeks 22, 24 engaging the board.
