Abstract
999,636. Electromagnetic relays. LEACH CORPORATION. May 15, 1962 [May 29, 1961], No. 18558/62. Heading H2B. The pole faces 7, 8 of polepieces 5, 6 which extend towards one another from a core 2 are inclined to the axis of the coil 1 carried by core 2. A balanced armature 14 is pivoted to non-magnetic plates 17, 18 secured to the polepieces by welding. The position of the armature is adjusted during manufacture by energizing the coil prior to securing the plates 17, 18 in position. The armature is biased to the open position by a blade spring 30 which acts near the pivotal axis of the armature. Wires 32, 33 terminating in insulating, e.g. glass, beads 34, 35, respectively, depend from opposite ends of the armature and actuate changeover contacts carried on a base 13. The core, coil, and polepieces are secured to the base by means of two wire brackets 9, 10 which are welded to the base 13 and the respective polepieces 5 or 6.
