Abstract

1,099,312. Electromagnetic relays. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORPORATION. May 7, 1965 [May 14, 1964], No. 19348/65. Heading H2B. A centrally pivoted armature of a relay is urged toward the E-shaped electromagnet by an adjustable spring 1. The armature assembly comprises a flat plate 9 and an underlying portion 3 of flattened V cross-section above a non-magnetic spacer 2. The spacer 2 and a strip 4 soldered to the portion 3 are secured by screws 14, 14<SP>1</SP> to extensions of the magnet frame 12 which has a permanent polarizing 7 at its centre and outer limbs bearing coils 5. If the spring 1 is set to bear on the plate 9 at one side of the armature pivotal axis the relay will be monostable, but if it is set to bear exactly at the pivotal axis the relay will be bi-stable or centre-stable.
