Abstract

649,427. Electric motors. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd., GACHET, E. J., and HARDS, E.J. Oct. 25, 1948, No. 27719. [Class 35] A step-by-step motor which is, e.g. suitable for driving a stepping switch in automatic telephone systems comprises an unwound rotor 1 which is successively attracted in a step-by-step manner by two pairs of stator poles equiangularly spaced on a common yoke 13, one pair of these stator poles comprising two poles 2, 3 only magnetized when attracting the rotor towards them and two continuously magnetized such as permanent magnet poles 4, 5 which attract the rotor towards them when the poles 2, 3 are not excited, the rotor in each attracted position being substantially in line with the respective two poles attracting it. The current impulses fed to the windings 11, 20 of the poles 2, 3 respectively are produced by an interrupter contact spring set 16 operated by a cam 17 mounted on the rotor shaft, or by a separate vibrator. In order to ensure unidirectional advancement of the rotor, the latter has two suitably directed side extensions 18, 19. In a modification the stator poles 2, 3 are on one yoke and the other stator poles 4, 5 are on a separate yoke.
