Abstract

603,961. Photographic cameras. SPECTO, Ltd., and HOBBS, H. W. Nov. 19, 1945, No. 31009. [Class 98 (i)] A camera includes a device for actuating the shutter which comprises a field magnet system, consisting of pairs of poles of opposite sign, arranged so that like poles are adjacent each other; a magnetizable armature 7 connected to the camera shutter and movable between poles of opposite sign ; and a coil 9 for magnetizing the armature through which a current may be passed in either direction. The magnets may be either electromagnets continuously energized by coils 2 or permanent magnets. On closing one of the shutter operating switches, say 14, the armature rotates clockwise allowing the spring contact 10 to close and breaking the circuit energizing the coil 9 through spring contact 11 which also acts as a buffer for the armature. The armature is retained in this position until the switch 13 is closed when it returns to the position shown. The shutter may be a single blade mounted directly on the shaft of the armature.
