Class 35 A disc meter has at least a cylindrical braking magnet polarized perpendicularly to its longitudinal axis. Fig. 2 shows such a magnet 1 mounted on a yoke 2 having arcuate limbs. Figs. 4, 5 show the arrangements of mounting two or four such magnets. If the braking effect of the magnets is to be adjusted, then they can be rotated by means of worm wheel arrangement as seen in Fig. 8. Temperature compensation iron rings 20. 21, Figs. 10, 11 (not shown), having a low Curie point are provided on the end faces of the permanent magnets.
