Abstract
401,476. Sound reproducing and transmitting devices. JESSOP & SONS, Ltd., W. and GOULD, J. E., Brightside Works, Sheffield. Sept. 26, 1932, No. 26613. [Class 40 (iv).] A permanent magnet having an annular air-gap, and more particularly for a moving coil sound reproducing instrument, has at least one of the members forming the polepieces of steel having a coercive force of not less than one hundred c.g.s. units and another part of steel of coercive force between thirty and eighty units. As shown, the former member forms the centre pole B, which may contain 6 to 35 per cent cobalt whilst the part A is of lower coercive force steel, such as 6 per cent tungsten or chromium steel whilst the perforated pole member C is of similar material or may be of soft iron or mild steel. In Fig. 3 the member A has four limbs but alternatively may have two whilst the Fig. 6 arrangement may be modified by making parts A and C integral. The components A, B and C may be screwed, riveted or welded together.
