Abstract

[Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] A generating system comprises two amplifier valves and a vibrating reed arrangement which supplies alternating input to the two valves one of which feeds the reed driving coil through a limiter. The Figure shows the reed assembly. The polepieces of the drive and pick-up coils 11, 13 consist of extremely thin laminations and the reed 10 is extremely thin and tapered and may be of quartz or low chromium content stainless steel in the former case the drive is electrostatic, and if the surface is metal coated energy may be derived therefrom due to the normal piezoelectric reaction. Alternatively metal plates may be cemented to the quartz and electromagnetic drive and pick-up used. As shown a pair of pick-up coils 13 are employed and associated with a permanent magnet 14.
