Abstract
464,518. Eddy - - current brakes. CHEETHAM, G. A., SYKES, C., ARMOUR, A. M., KING, A. J., and METROPOLITAN VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Dec. 9, 1935, No. 34104. [Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] A permanent magnet comprises a soft steel yoke having attached thereto at least one polepiece of high coercive force material disposed adjacent the air gap, means being provided to bend the yoke for adjusting the air gap. In the form shown, polepieces 17, 18 are welded to the yoke 14 and the air gap may be adjusted by the bolt 19 and nuts 21. In a modification the bolt is disposed between the polepieces and the bent part of the yoke. The magnet may be used for braking in an electricity meter.
