Abstract
440,038. Magnets. LUCAS, Ltd., J., and WATSON, E. -A., Great King Street, Birmingham. June 19, 1934, No. 18097. [Class 35] [See also Group XXXIX] A short, stumpy, permanent magnet, that is, one which is short in comparison to its width, made from a high coercivity alloy of the nickel, aluminium and iron type, has combined with one or more of its sides a guard of nonmagnetic material. The object of the guard is to avoid demagnetization by contact of the magnet with any iron body. As shown in connection with a loudspeaker, the magnet a has a jacket b of paper, synthetic resin, brass, aluminium or other nonmagnetic material. Alternatively, the guard may consist of a shell separated from the magnet by an air space or of rings, studs, ribs, or flanges.
