Abstract
450,541. Magnetic chucks, separators, clutches, &c. WINDLEY, F. W., 27, Spring- field Road, Chelmsford. Jan. 15, 1935, No. 1284. [Class 60] A magnetic chuck, separator, clutch, &c. comprises a box 1, with a cover plate 2 of high permeability steel, in which are mounted on a shaft 4 one or more permanent magnets 3 having pole-faces 5 concentric with the shaft 4. In the operative position, the faces 5 lie in contact with the correspondingly shaped inner faces of pole shoes 6 secured in slots in the cover 2 and separated therefrom by non-magnetic alloy 8; the work lying on the cover 2 is released by rotation of the shaft 4 to carry the poles of the magnets away from the shoes 6 and into contact with one or more keeps 10 in the box 1. The transverse parts 11 of the cover 2 may be arranged to increase the number of pole areas. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 429,199.
