Abstract
384,434. Induction furnaces. UGINEINFRA, 21, Rue du Drac, Grenoble, France. Dec. 1, 1931, No. 33310. Convention date, Jan. 28. [Class 39 (iii).] The furnace comprises a primary winding 4 and a muffle 2 of magnetic material closely surrounded by a closed ring 4 of conducting material which is non-magnetic at the working temperature and forms the secondary winding. The muffle may be of ferro-cobalt and the ring 4 of nickel. The temperature of the furnace will remain. automatically at the temperature at which the muffle loses its magnetic properties. The muffle may be divided longitudinally and the magnetic circuit may be closed by bridgepieces 3. Varying temperatures may be obtained throughout the furnace by means of a sectional muffle made from different materials as described in Specification 360,827, or by means of a secondary 4 made in sections from different materials and of different thicknesses. Dimensions, materials, and curves of operation are given for a particular furnace.
